Jin Yang, Verizon Wireless, USA
Dr. Jin Yang is a Fellow at Verizon Communications, responsible for wireless technology and strategy. She is leading next generation wireless network architecture and technologies, including 5G access technologies, LTE-Advanced, Machine Type Communications, Self-Organizing Network and Heterogeneous Network. She has played a key role in development and commercialization of LTE network in 2010, Verizon’s choice of LTE as 4G technology in 2007, various CDMA network developments since 1995 at Verizon, Vodafone and AirTouch Communications. Dr. Jin Yang has contributed to establish US IS-95 CDMA, IS-2000 EV-DO, and 3GPP LTE and ongoing 5G standardizations.
Jin received the B.Sc. (Honors), and Ph.D. degrees from Tsinghua University. Dr. Jin Yang has more than 40 granted patents and 25 pending patents on wireless communications. She has published numerous papers, and co-authored 3 books on mobile communications.

John Matyjas, Air Force Research Laboratory, USA
Dr. John D. Matyjas received his Ph.D. in electrical engineering from State University of New York at Buffalo in 2004. Currently, he is serving as the Tech Advisor of the Communications & Computing Division at the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) in Rome, NY. His research interests include dynamic multiple-access communications and networking, software defined RF, spectrum mutability, statistical signal processing and optimization, and neural networks.
Dr. Matyjas is the recipient of the 2015 Air Force Association 'Technology Manager of the Year' Award, 2015 AFRL Headquarters' Scientist of the Year' Award, 2012 IEEE R1 Technology Innovation Award, and the 2010 IEEE Int'l Communications Conf. Best Paper Award. In 2016, he was inducted as an AFRL Fellow. From 2012-2014, he served on the IEEE Trans. on Wireless Communications Editorial Advisory Board. He is an IEEE Senior Member, chair of the IEEE Mohawk Valley Signal Processing Society, and member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu Engineering Honor Societies.

Michael Ha, FCC, USA
Michael Ha is the Deputy Chief of Policy and Rules Division, Office of Engineering and Technology at the Federal Communications Commission. Since joining the Commission in 2010, he has been engaged in various proceedings on spectrum allocations for advanced wireless services, mobile satellite services, and public safety services. He has also been engaged in federal/non-federal spectrum sharing activities and the Commission’s efforts to explore the use of innovative technologies in upper microwave and millimeter wave bands. Michael is the FCC’s liaison to the Interdepartment Radio Advisory Committee (IRAC). His other areas of interests include innovative technologies to enhance the spectrum efficiency and enable spectrum sharing.
Michael held various technology and management leadership positions in R&D, Technology Development, Corporate Strategy and Product Management through his private wireless industry career. Prior to joining the Commission, he served as the Director of 4G Device Management at Sprint-Nextel, where his team was responsible for the WiMAX device development and portfolio strategy.
Michael received a Sc.B degree in Electrical Engineering from University of California, San Diego and Masters of Engineering degree in Electrical Engineering from Cornell University.

Mythri Hunukumbure, Samsung R&D Institute, UK
Mythri Hunukumbure obtained his BSc (Honours) degree in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and MSc and PhD degrees in Wireless Communications from University of Bristol, UK. He recently joined Samsung R&D Institute UK (SRUK) as a Principal Researcher and plays a leading role in the EU funded mmMAGIC 5G project. He contributions are as WP5 (Multi-antenna/ node technologies) Leader and as Task Leader for T1.2 (spectrum assessment). Prior to this, he worked at Fujitsu Labs of Europe for 8 years and contributed to and later led research on WiMAX and LTE standardisation, Green Wireless, Femto cell innovations and D2D adaptations for 5G. He has secured around 25 patents and has also published extensively in leading IEEE conferences and journals, receiving best paper award at the World Telecommunications Congress (WTC) in 2012. He has participated in many topical workshops in IEEE conferences as a panellist/ invited speaker.

Bio: Michael L. Honig is a Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Northwestern University. Prior to joining Northwestern he worked in the Systems Principles Research Division at Bellcore in Morristown, NJ, and at Bell Laboratories in Holmdel, NJ. His recent research has focused on resource allocation for wireless networks, including pricing mechanisms for spectrum access. He received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University in 1977, and the Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1981. He is a Fellow of IEEE, and has served as a member of the of the Board of Governors for the IEEE Information Theory Society. He is the recipient of a Humboldt Research Award for Senior U.S. Scientists, and the co-recipient of the 2002 IEEE Communications Society and Information Theory Society Joint Paper Award and the 2010 IEEE Marconi Prize Paper Award.
