Panelists

Nada Golmie: NADA GOLMIE (nada@nist.gov) received her Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Maryland at College Park. Since 1993, she has been a research engineer at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). She is currently the chief of the wireless networks division in the Communications Technology Laboratory. Her research in media access control and protocols for wireless networks led to over 100 technical papers presented at professional conferences, journals, and contributed to international standard organizations and industry led consortia. She is the author of “Coexistence in Wireless Networks: Challenges and System-level Solutions in the Unlicensed Bands," published by Cambridge University Press (2006). She is the technical lead for the simulation modeling and evaluation of LTE in support of public safety communications and serves as a co-chair for the 5G mmWave Channel Model Alliance.

Thyaga Nandagopal: Thyaga Nandagopal is a Program Director at the National Science Foundation in the Directorate of Computer & Information Science and Engineering (CISE), where he manages wireless networking and mobile computing research within the Networking Technologies and Systems (NeTS) program. He also serves as the co-chair of the Wireless Spectrum Research and Development Senior Steering Group (WSRD SSG), which co-ordinates spectrum-related research and development activities across the Federal government.

Sean Cai: As Vice President of CTO Group, Sean Cai is responsible for innovation and new technology development, as well as global marketing strategy. He leads a team of end-to-end technical experts in the United States and Europe, working closely with global operators to provide the latest solutions in ICT transformation. Sean regularly participates in various industry forums. He has been a key contributor to the development of leading 4G solutions, such as TDD/FDD LTE, multiple-antenna technologies, Small Cell, virtualization of network functions and solutions, and next-generation technologies such as 5G.
Sean has over 20 years of professional experience in telecommunications industry, specializing in advanced wireless products research and ICT network solutions development. Prior to joining ZTE in 2002, he held various senior positions in infrastructure system development with AMCC, STMicroelectronics, and Nortel, and has been awarded multiple international patents in telecommunications.
